It has been a great privilege for me to have been part of the St Patrick's Day Parade Committee for the past 30 years.
Back in 1986, Councillor Frank Godfrey took over the running of the Parade from the Drogheda Brass Band. Frank invited myself and Mrs Phil Conyngham amongst others to form a committee with a view to making the parade bigger and stronger and to include more diverse and varied entrants from our locality and surrounding areas.
This year our theme is '30 Years of Green'. We look forward to seeing a sea of green on the streets of Drogheda on Thursday 17th March.
We have a very hard working committee under the stewardship of our Chairperson Mr. Anthony Lynch. It takes months of hard work and dedication to prepare for our big day in this, our historic town of Drogheda. I would like to make a special mention and word of thanks to all our sponsors without whom the parade would not be possible.
Let me also take this opportunity to thank all our participants over the years as well as the Gardaí, St John Ambulance Corp. our many Grand Marshals, our volunteers and everybody who helps to make the Drogheda Parade one of the best in the country.
Parade will start at 12.00 noon sharp.
Please view our route page for detailed map.
Grand Marshall for 2016
As Chairperson, I would like to thank all past and present members of the
Patrick's Day Parade Committee, of which there are only three founder members
still serving, for their support, hard work and dedication to the Drogheda Parade
over many years.
Entry forms for the 2016 Parade can be downloaded here.
With your participation, we can make this year's Parade bigger and better than
ever. On behalf of the Committee, I wish you and yours a very special and happy Saint Patrick's Day.
